Andrea Reichardt About the Artist: Andrea Reichardt

Life has a funny way of pushing us on journeys we never imagined we’d take….

I was born in 1980 in Dresden Germany and enjoyed a childhood filled with excitement. From a very young age my parents encouraged me to learn and explore my abilities both creatively and personally. I was constantly busy with one thing or another, dancing, playing piano, accordion, flute and church organ above all else. I always loved to create paintings and drawings. My passion from art class often flowed into all other subjects.

Education

Upon finishing school in 1996 I undertook an apprenticeship as an administrative assistant for the Ebersbach council. During this time I also completed a certificate in church organ allowing me to play professionally and I participated in modern dance groups all the while painting and creating works.

Travelling is one very important part of my life so upon the completion of my traineeship and employment I felt the need again to experience new people, places and culture. It was at this point that I made the life changing decision to take what I thought would be a holiday to the beautiful and diverse country of Australia.

My Career as an Artist

  • I created my first oil painting for a private collection in 2000.
  • In 2005 after my travels and settling down in Australia I started painting at Claire Souters Art Gallery in Kuranda.
  • My website was created in 2006 www.reichardt-artsite.com
  • In 2007 I decided to undertake a Diploma course in Visual Arts and Contemporary Craft at TNQ Tafe.
